From Dream to Reality...

Experience Life began as a dream in the heart of a college student to one day start a church that would impact the world. Although Chris didn’t know when or where God would have him start this church, he was convinced that God would reveal those details in His timing. After graduating from seminary in December of 2006 and praying about what to do next, Chris and Emilie sensed that God was calling them to start this new church back home in Lubbock.

Chris knew that Lubbock didn't need just "another" church. After all, there were already over 400 of them in the city. Chris believed that there was a need for a new kind of church which would provide a "new and exciting experience" with church for those who for those who were searching for a church home. Chris discovered that many people were interested in Jesus, the Bible, and spiritual things, but they felt that many churches lacked cultural relevance and were primarily geared for “religious people” who were very different from them.

Therefore, Chris and Emilie wanted to start Experience Life to help people, regardless of their religious background, experience all God has for them in this life. The Bible says, "whoever has the Son [meaning Jesus] has LIFE" and Jesus said that he came to give us a full and satisfying life. In fact, he said he IS the LIFE! Chris believes that the keys to Experience Life are to experience a life-changing relationship with Jesus, to experience biblical community, and to experience sacrificial service.

Chris and Emilie moved to Lubbock at the beginning of April in 2007 and began to tell others about what God had called them to do. On April 17th, 2007, they launched their first LifeHouse (home small group) to begin connecting families to Jesus and to each other. In the first two months, this group outgrew their home and multiplied into two other neighborhoods. There are currently 30 LifeHouses meeting.

Experience Life hosted three “sneak preview” gatherings in the summer of 2007 and then celebrated its Grand Opening on September 9th, 2007, with over 330 people in attendance. Since our Grand Opening, we have experienced explosive growth and now have over 2,000 people at our weekly Worship Gatherings. Every week Pastor Chris preaches a relevant & practical message from God's Word and Brandon leads us in worship with our rockin' band. It is the hope of Experience Life that our weekend Worship Gatherings would be the "highlight" of everyone's week.

Since everyone is created for a spiritual journey, Experience Life is a church which will help people take the next step on their journey. We believe that God has given us the Bible as a guidebook for the journey and that we will find His plan and purpose for our lives within its pages. That's why everything that we do at Experience Life will be based on the Bible.
